STCW 10 Basic Safety Training

Course Overview

STCW training is a legal requirement for anyone working at sea onboard commercial vessels such as offshore fleet, tankers, ferries and passenger vessels. Once you complete the training you will receive an internationally recognised certificate that will need to be renewed every five years.

For offshore work such as working on oil rigs, you will also need to complete the 11 Day STCW 10 course which includes first Aid At Sea, marine firefighting, personal safety and social responsibility, personal survival techniques and proficiency in designated security duties.

STCW 10 is a package of courses designed specifically for service in the yachting industry. The Superyacht Culinary Academy uses the leading STCW facility in Cape Town. Courses start weekly and run over a period of 11 Days. Not all the courses are consecutive, so the full course with all the modules a may take a little longer.

Our courses are recognised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) as well as SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority)
